Thumper Bennett

It was in the spring of 2007 that we decided to add a “Bunny” member to our little family that included our beloved Italian Greyhound, Tina. We found our perfect addition at the Humane Society… Thumper… a young, handsome MiniLop boy with not only striking colours, but also a striking personality! We were informed that while Thumper was sweet, he did not like other rabbits and routinely picked fights with residents in the communal play pen. Luckily for us, he did however have a fondness for dogs.

The official adoption day of June 8, 2007 was the beginning of a wonderful friendship between Thumper and Tina. Through the years, Thumper did his bunny best to copy Tina. He would comically try to match her speedy strides up the backyard hill, chase squirrels along the fence line and would adorably snuggle up with her on Dad’s lap. Thumper often displayed his unique personality from stacking his toys in his food dish showing off his artistic side to tossing something in his litter pan to express his displeasure. Thumper loved to call/demand “goody” breaks, featuring his favourite Banana treats, at TV relaxation time showing his musical side by strumming the cage bars with his front paws. He could sometimes be heard “thumping” just to make a statement – we always felt he was well suited to his name.

Thumper had a beautiful soft side to his nature that became more evident as he aged. He was described as “the perfect patient” and “a laid back dude” by the amazing Veterinary Hospital Staff that treated his various medical issues. Thumper loved life and his fighting spirit remained constant even when his body was failing. On March 24, 2017 we wished Thumper a speedy journey to heaven to reunite with his friend, Tina. We will forever cherish the memories of our “Mr. Boo” and remember with much love our special little man always. Mom & Dad xoxo
