Lola's Adoption

Born in 2002, Lola joined our family February 10th 2008. She was adopted from the Oshawa Humane Society.

We went there to adopt a black spaniel that a friend had seen there earlier in the week. We couldn’t find the spaniel and none of the other dogs seemed to be a good fit for our family.

On the way out, we saw a cage in the corner and when I bent down to look in, I saw two little eyes and a little wagging tail. She had been shaved bald and had sores all over her back and a tumor covering part of her right eye. I asked if I could take her out of the cage. When I did, she cuddled into my neck…I had found my new friend.

Since then, she has taken me for a walk every morning and another each evening regardless of the weather. Between walks, she was my constant companion.

She was adored by our six grandchildren, Emily, Macey, Cameron, Cheyenne, Jasmine and Jude. She was also a frequent visitor to some of the Long-Term Care facilities in our area; she loved all of the attention from the residents. She brought smiles to their faces and rekindled memories of happier times for them.

Our thanks to Dr Makowal and the staff of The Simcoe North Veterinary Clinic for their care and support with Lola’s medical issues over the years, it was truly appreciated.

Thanks for being in our lives Lola, we will miss you dearly, you will always be in our hearts.
